This article gives an account of Ngrjuna’s life and his writings and analyses his thought. It puts forth the view that the Indian philosopher’s thought is mainly reflected in his Mdhya- mikasastra which, according to the writer of this article, contains three major ideas, namely, pratitysasmutpda prakrti-snyat, madhyampratipad dve satye and tattvasya laksanam nir- vana. It also discusses these ideas one by one and expresses some viewpoints of its own.
