摘要
Tibetan Buddhism developed what is almost certainly one of the largest vocal music repertories existing anywhere in the world. Tibetan performers use several systems to classify the repertory by text or tradition, or according to either the object (yul) and deity (lha) to whom the chant is addressed or its function (don). Musical specialists prefer a classification of monastic chant according to melodic type: 'don, recitation chants; rta, melodic chants; and bdyangs, tone-contour chants.
