| 摘要 | The Infinite Longevity Sutra is one of the three sutras on Amitabha Buddha's pure land. In the history of the translation of sutras, it is said，"five renditions are extant and seven missing." This paper is based on the rendition of Samghavarman of the T'sao Wei Dynasty.
The author intends to investigate the living conditions and social order of the sukhavati from following angles：The 31 representative sravaka monks who are the audience in the sutra, the vow made by Monk Fa Tsang，the process of purifying the Buddha's Land，and the beauties of the surroundings of the sukhavati such as the trees in row，the pond，the tower，and the palace，etc. What inspiring significance does the establishment of this social order have in the social order of our real life? How are the living conditions of the sukhavati related to our real living conditions? What association can we make?
Furthermore，the author tries to examine the situation of the sentient beings of the sukhavati in listening to the dharma teaching of Amitabha Buddha. What is the educational mechanism of the dharma teaching? Is there any reference we can draw from it to our real Buddhist education? Why are there three levels of taking rebirth in the sukhavati? What is the human nature reflected in the three poisons and five evils?
By means of the investigation，the author hopes to find out the way of implementing the thought of Amitabha Buddha's pure land in our real circumstance，i.e. to provide a reference for the creation of an ideal "earthly" pure land. |
