摘要 | This paper argues that proper attention to the nature and functions of religious doctrine is indispensable if the philosophical dimensions of religious pluralism are to be understood and addressed. Using the distinction between primary and secondary doctrines argued for by William A Christian,Sr,it is suggested, with examples from Buddhism and Christianity, that doctrine' is a category that necessarily has inter-religious applicability, and that deploying it properly both allows and requires the development of inter-religious apologetical arguments. |
