| 摘要 | The word mo-ho-yen in the title of this work is a transliteration of the Sanskrit Mahayana, and thus the title means "Commentary on the Mahayana Treatise," 'Mahayana Treatise' in this case referring to "The Awakening of Faith" (No. 68). As with the latter work，there has been much divergence of opinion on the author and place of composition of this treatise，but it is generally held to have been composed in the seventh or eighth century in either China or Korea. Owing to the fact that Kukai，the founder of the Shingon School in Japan，recognized it as a genuine work of Nagarjuna, it has been considered as an important text in this school，and much study has been devoted to it. |
