| 摘要 | A commentary on the Vimalakirtinirdesa-sutra (No. 27)，this work is one of the "Commentaries on Three Sutras" (San-gyo-gi-sho) composed by Prince Shotoku. It is considered that one reason for Prince Shotoku's having chosen this particular sutra was the fact that the status of the protagonist Vimalakirti，not an ordained monk but a simple lay bodhisattva, resembled his own position.
There have in the past been raised doubts whether this work was in fact composed by Prince Shotoku. However，at present there is no conclusive proof indicating that it be the work of someone other than the author of the other two "Commentaries on Three Sutras, " and so it is considered that the most reasonable view be to ascribe all three commentaries to Prince Shotoku. |
