The Pure Land Sutras and Treatises indicated here refer to the Pratyutpannasamadhi Sutra, the Amitayus Sutra, and the Contemplation of Amitayus Sutra, the Amitabha Sutra and the Treatise on the Amitayus Sutra, also known as the Pure Land Shastra. The author synthesizes the teaching on cultivation from these texts and analyzes their meaning，and then goes on to apply the Three Ranks and Nine Types of rebirth in the Pure Land as a standard by which ethics of life demanded in the Pure Land texts so as to elevate the cultivation and character of human beings in this world.
