Amitayus's Pureland was the biggest school of Pureland thinking once prevailed in China. It greatly influenced many Chinese scholars in its beautifully constructed Pureland realm, its simple religious practice and its concept of not fearing death. Xie Lingyun, the great poet in the East Jin and Song Dynasties, consciously accepted the Amitayus Pureland faith and its way of thinking. As a result, when he did his mountains-and-waters writings and practiced his Amitayus Pureland faith, his aesthetic standards and literary writing practice were naturally blended into the structures of his consciousness of the Amitayus Pureland faith.
