The paper attempts to demonstrate such question from the investigation to Buddhism debate in the Eastern Jin Dynasty and the Southern Dynasty: firstly, after Hui Yuan compromised Buddhism and Confucianism in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, a large number of compromise methods in the Buddhism debate was provided Liu Xie; secondly, it is possible that Liu Xie absorbed these compromise methods because of his Buddhism backgound; finally, the paper proves that Liu Xie’compromise method rooted in the Buddhism debate by analysizing to Liu Xie’s Mie Huo theory and WenXin DiaoLong.
