Like any other religions, The tenet of Buddhism which is one of the big three religions in the world is in pursuit of standing aloof from worldly affairs, and is opposite to humanism. But when it was imported into China and combined with Chinese vulgar culture of Confucianism, Taoism and social life, it gradually got Chino\|nationalization .The important character of Chinese Buddhism is its vivid agreement with worldly affairs. This paper first analyzed the two concepts of \!Chinese Buddhism\" and \!the spirit of humanism\", comparing Chinese Buddhism with the original Buddhism, Buddhism with Chinese vulgar culture of Confucianism, Taoism; then expatiated on the close relation between \!Chinese Buddhism\" and \!the spirit of humanism\" in the aspect of the nature of Buddhism and human nature、 standing aloof from worldly affairs and agreement with worldly affairs, ideality and reality, in order to clarify the idealistic character of Chinese Buddhism, and thus to provide the useful revelation for the modernization of the present Chinese Buddhism.
