The research upsurge of Buddhist literature about the Sui, Tang, and the five dynasties, which opened up owing to the finding of Dunhuang manuscripts at the opening of the last century, has been prolonged by now, and has achieved notable results. This paper has reviewed and summarized the study at home and abroad up till now, and puts forward some new thoughts for writing the history of Buddhist literature in these dynasties.
