Ven Taixu (1890–1947) was the most outstanding Buddhist Master in 20th-century China who initiated the movement of Humanistic Buddhism, which had influence on the thoughts and practices in China today. This paper points out that one of Ven Taixu’s Humanistic Buddhism theories reveals a distinctive sense of contemplation focusing on areas such as Chinese Buddhism tradition, the present and future of Chinese Buddhist section, the relationship between Chinese Buddhism and Chinese society, etc. The author also expounds the essential properties of Ven Taixu’s Humanistic Buddhism theory, such as Buddhist consciousness, China consciousness, social consciousness, cultural consciousness, and world consciousness in Buddhism.
