No.25 cave of Yulin is an important one which was built when Tubo ruled Dunhuang area.Some scholars claim that its date is the eighth century through studying its drawing style,and conclude the ancient Tibetan inscription on the northern fresco—milebian is relative to the fresco’s content-an old man was buried.The author considers the Tibetan inscription was written by some Buddhist believer,the drawer was a Sengtong(monks’leader)of the early ninth century,and the fresco was drew to commemorate the contri- bution of a Tubo monk named Shanggong.The textual research on the inscription provides a dating standard to study the mural drawings of the middle and late Tang Dynasty which were discovered in Dunhuang area.
