There are abundant with iconographic materials of acrobatic feats in Dunhuang Art,dancing on a pole,one of Chinese traditional acrobatic feats found among them.This article tries to examining all of the images of the dancing on a pole in Dunhuang Murals and study them by the states and feature while a careful textual research on historic documents is supportive resources,and then put forward a opinion that the performance of dancing on a pole are not only be considered as body showing but a art of skill,power,state of mind and beauty of dynamic movement as well.All of evidential fact shows that this acrobatic feat has much close relationship with a modern gymnastic race and can be considered to be original source of modern gymnastics racing in China.
