The Three Purities Palace(also called Sanqinggong), is a Taoist Temple built by Wang Yuanlu in the Qing dynasty. Paintings depicting people and animals are on the wooden structure of the main hall. This paper argues that 14 of these paintings were made according to the Shanhai Jing(the Classic of Mountains and Rivers) if compared with the illustrated version of Shanhai Jing of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It also attempts to identify and interpret some of the images.
