Fifteen statues of Seng Jia and one accompanying inscription have been found in the caves of the Song and Jin dynasties in Yan’an region, eleven of which will soon be shown to the public for the first time. These statues are combined respectively with statues of Avalokitesvara, Maitreya Buddha, Bao Zhi, Wan Hui, or sixteen arhats, a discovery that provides rich information for study on the statues of and belief in Seng Jia and fills an archaeological void in north China where fewer statues of Seng Jia have been found to date.
