René Grousset, a French scholar, is a famous oriental studies expert. His works is the mark of French oriental studies and represents an important phase of French Far-east studies. His work Along the Footprint of Buddha, was first published in 1929. It was based on the history of Xuanzang and Yijing master’s pursuit of law in the Western Regions. It gave an account of the west travel of Xuanzang and Yijing master’s land and marine travel. It is universally regarded as a classic works for the research into the Buddhism in the Tang dynasty. This paper elaborated Grousset’s research into Xuanzang’s Confucian details and its account of three city states of Gangchang,Azheni,and Quzhi.
