In autumn 2015, four museums cooperated to hold a special exhibition to showcase a national treasure, “Ippen Hijirie.” But for this exhibition, the mass media did not show much reaction. In the background there lies a strategy of commercialism such as the selling of movies and songs by major promoters. While there were some problems in the exhibit method, the tour fees and the selection of lecturers, the pictorial record was cheap. We found ourselves looking forward to the powered-up “Ippen-hijirie Exhibit.” Only the steady effort of the grassroots level would activate the stagnant status of Jisyuu studies.
