星雲大師以人間佛教弘化為中心的社會交往 — 以1991年《星雲日記》所記為主=Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Social Interaction through Humanistic Buddhism Propagation - Based on Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Diaries
Venerable Master Hsing Yun writes in his diary, “Since young, I’ve always like to keep diaries.” In the first few years upon arrival in Taiwan, Venerable Master’s diaries already comprised over 20 books totaling approximately 2,000,000 words. However, when Venerable Master began to read his own diaries, he realized they were filled with gossip and conflicts, as well as gains and losses. It revealed his ugly side of cynicism. On New Year’s Day 1952, Venerable Master wrote, “I am selfish, I am ugly. I arrogantly praise myself while slandering others, indulge in self-talks, this is truly a failing of humanity.” After, Venerable Master burnt all 20 books. In 1989, Venerable Master Hsing Yun once again started to write diaries. The Venerable Master’s diaries provide first-hand resource to those researching Venerable Master Hsing Yun and the historical development of Humanistic Buddhism. Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Diaries consists of his reflections, realizations, and teachings, as well as his daily schedule of Dharma propagation to benefit all beings. It is through interactions with people, that Humanistic Buddhism propagation has been actualized. Using Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Diaries as examples, this paper discusses the propagation and development of Humanistic Buddhism from the perspectives of social interpersonal interactions and communications.
