This paper sorts out and exams all the documents about the Liumen Tuoluoni Jing in both Chinese and ancient Tibetan among Dunhuang documents and it suggests that there are two Chinese versions of this sutra. One version was translated by Xuanzang, which is consistent with the version handed down from ancient time. The other version was translated based on a Tibetan version, but the translator is unclear. As a result, it differs greatly with the one Xuanzang’s version. There are also two versions of this sutra in ancient Tibetan scripts among Dunhuang documents. A comparison of the two versions with extant Derge version indicates that the Derge version might be a revision based on the two versions. Namely, the Chinese versions of Liumen Tuoluoni Jing from Dunhuang might contains a new version that has not been recorded in the version handed down from ancient time.
