Based on the archives collected in the Institute of French and Chinese in Lyon, this paper for the first time reveals that Mr.Chang Shuhong’s original name was Chang Tingfang. Following this clue, the author has further discovered a paper and a poem written by Chang Shuhong in his early years, which were previously published in the Journal of the Student Council of Zhejiang Public Industrial Special School, and comes to the conclusion that, as important material about the thoughts of Chang Shuhong in his youth, these works are closely related to his returning to China and later research of the Dunhuang caves.
