A new form of Astral worship originated in the Hexi corridor in the late Tang dynasty and immediately attracted the spiritual sensibilities of multiple local ethnic groups during the Western Xia period, resulting in the appearance of many new modes of religious operation and practice. Focusing on the Tangut astral textИHB.No.4737 from Khara-Khoto documents and with a macro perspective methodology of reviewing relevant historical texts by philological means, this paper makes an annotated translation of ИHB.No.4737, explains its structure and properties, and further explores other pertinent Tangut texts which belong to the same system of written religious tradition.
