摘要
자장과 관련된 대표적인 국내 자료는, 일연의 『삼국유사』 속 문헌들과 민지의 『오대산사적기』 안의 자장전기가 있다. 민지의 자장전기와 관련해서, 지난 2014년 가을 월정사에서 새로운 판본이 확인되었다. 이로 인하여 ‘판본 문제’와 ‘민지본의 원형’에 대한 검토가 새롭게 요청받게 된다. 본고는 이 문제를 해소하기 위해서, 먼저 제I장에서는 『오대산사적기』의 판본검토를 개진한다. 이를 통해서 현재 널리 유통되던 병․정본의 체계가 갑․을본에 비해서 늦다는 것을 판단해 볼 수 있게 된다. 이를 바탕으로 제II장부터는, 갑․을본의 대표격인 을본과 병․정본의 대표가 되는 정본을 통해서 자장전기의 내용 차이에 대해서 검토해본다. 먼저 제II장에서는, 을본과 정본의 차이점인 총 8가지를 제시하고 이의 의미파악을 시도해본다. 이는 자료의 원형인 민지본에 대한 판단배경을 확보하는 부분이 된다. 다음으로 제III장에서는, 제II장의 차이에서 확인되는 변화이유에 대해서 보다 구체적인 접근을 한다. 이를 통해서 판본검토에서와 같이 자장전기에서도, 갑․을본이 병․정본보다 더 빠르다는 것을 인식할 수 있게 된다. 이는 기존의 민지본에 대한 이해를 수정하게 한다는 점에서 높은 연구의의를 확보한다. 마지막으로 제IV장에서는, 앞장들의 검토결과와 함께 민지 자장전기의 특징을 살펴본다. 이를 통해서 민지의 자장전기가 일반적인 판단과 달리, 일연의 자장에 대한 기록보다 더 높은 원 자료의 충실성을 확보하고 있다는 것을 파악해 볼 수 있게 된다.
Typical Korean materials for Jajang are the records in Ilyeon(一然)’s SamgugYusaandJajangJeongi(Jajang’s Biography) in OdaesanSajeoggi written by Minji. In relation with Minji’s JajangJeongi, a new version was found at Woljeongsa Temple in the autumn of 2014. With this, it is newly relevant to review ‘the version’ problem and ‘the prototype of Minji’s version’. To solve this problem, Chapter 1 of this paper overviews the versions of OdaesanSajeoggi. Through this, it was found that the system of most prevalent Byung-Jeong Versions(丙ㆍ丁本) is later than those of Gab-Eul(甲ㆍ乙本). Based on this, the differences between Eul Version, the representative of Gab-Eul versions(甲ㆍ乙本), and Jeong Version, the representative of Byung-Jeong Versions(丙ㆍ丁本) are checked inChapter II. First, 8 differences between Eul and Jeong Versions are presented and their significance is examinedin Chapter II.This can provide the background to judge the Minji version as the prototype of the material. Next, Chapter III makes a more concrete approach to the causes of changes found in Chapter II. Though this, it is also seen that even in JajangJeongi, Gab-Eul versions were published earlier than Byeong-Jeong versions. This study is very significant in that the former understanding about Minji’s version should be adjusted. Finally, in Chapter IV, the characteristics of Minji’s JajangJeongi are researched along with the review results of former chapters. With this, it can be seen that, unlike the conventional viewpoints, Minji’s JajangJeongi is more faithful to the original material than Ilyeon’s record about Jajang.
