摘要
본 논문은 태고보우의 양평 용문산 불교와 불교개혁에 관한 연구이다. 보우는용문산 일대에서 태어났으며 法王兒가 되리라 칭송을 받았다. 용문산 상원암에서 서원을 세우고 사나사를 중창하였다. 소설암에 머물면서 신라 말에 시작된 용문산 불교를 중흥시키는 단초를 열었다. 뿐만 아니라 보우는 불교계 전면에 나서서 왕사와 국사에 책봉되면서 공민왕의 반원 자주 개혁과 더불어 시행된 불교개혁을 시도하였다. 당시 퇴락한 불교계의 종풍을 바로 세우기 위해 『백장칙수』와 『치문경훈』 등의 계율 수행이 서도록하였다. 불교계의 화합을 위해 불교계 선종의 9산문을 하나로 통합하고자 하였다. 불교계의 근본적인 개혁을 위해 한양으로 천도하여 불교계의 재편을 꾀하고자 하였다. 이와 같이 보우는 양평 용문산 불교를 기반으로 하여 고려말 불교 개혁을 단행하였으며, 고려말 불교와 불교계를 중흥시키고자 하였다.
This paper is a study on Taego-Bowoo’s Buddhism at Mt. Yongmunsan in Yangpyeong and Buddhist reform movement in the late Goryeo Dynasty. He was born in the Yongmunsan area and extolled by people in his early years to become a Buddha in the future. He made a vow at the Sangwonam temple and rebuilt the Sanasa Temple. He wanted to revive Buddhism at Mt. Yongmunsan, which had begun in the late Silla Period. In addition, He was appointed a teacher of the Buddhist king and a teacher of the state. He wanted to carry out the Buddhist reform according to the reform of King Gongmin. In order to correct the corrupt Buddhist community at that time, accordingly, books such as the Chìxiu baizhang qinggui and the Zhimen jingxun were published by him to purify the Buddhist community. He attempted to integrate the existing nine schools of Seon Buddhism into one for the harmony of the Buddhist community in Goryeo. In order to reform the Buddhist community, he wanted to reorganize it by transfer of the capital to Hanyang. As such, He planned to carry out a Buddhist reform at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty based on Buddhism in Yongmunsan Mountain in Yangpyeong.
