This thesis discusses the nature of monastic life of Humanistic Buddhism from four aspects: food, clothing, shelter, and means of transportation, the basic necessities of life. The intention of Buddha’s philosophy is to help people understand and transcend their suffering to attain true spiritual peace and happiness. In modern time, it’s difficult for many to see the relevance of traditional Buddhism practices in their daily lives. Humanistic Buddhism emerged in order for the traditional Buddhism to continuously adapt to the modern society and modern way of living. Based on the traditional Buddhism principle of Threefold Training- Sila (Discipline), Samadhi (Meditation), and Panna (Wisdom)- this thesis explores how monastic life of Humanistic Buddhism integrates the traditional Buddhism philosophy into modern daily lives in food, clothing, shelter, and means of transpiration.
