M138경 anupādā paritassanā는 vibhaṅga부분에서 나타난 반면, SN22:7경 upādā paritassanā는 붓다의 설법에서 나타난다. 따라서 SN22:7경과 M138경을 단순 비교해서는 안된다. 또한 anupādā는 열반이 아닌 해탈과 연관된 개념이다. 해탈은 심해탈과 혜해탈이 있기 때문에, anupādā를 출세간으로만 이해하면 양자가 구별되지 않는다. 즉 anupādā paritassanā는 색계와 무색계에 고정된 심해탈을 가리키고, anupādā aparitassanā는 출세간의 영역인 혜해탈을 통한 심해탈을 가리킨다. SN22:7경의 upādā paritassanā는 욕계를 가리킨다. 따라서, M138경의 anupādā paritassanā 표기는 올바르다.
Bodi bhikkhu asserts that the reading of anupādā paritassanā of MN138 is an ancient error that should be discounted. Having been based on the reading of upādā paritassanā of SN22:7, he asserts that spelling of anupādā paritassanā of MN138 should be like upādā paritassanā of SN22:7 in his translation of the Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha. In this study' point of view, his rendering should require further examination. Because MN138 has uddesa and vibhaṅga, that is translated as respectively a summary and an exposition. Summary in MN138 has a wide range more than SN22:7 and Exposition in MN138 is in detail while SN22:7 has no exposition. SN22:7 only explains two parts that are upādā paritassanā and anupādā aparitassanā. In contrast to SN22:7, MN138 explains three parts that are bahiddhā and ajjhattaṃ saṇṭhitaṃ and ajjhattaṃ saṇṭhitaṃ. It seems that Comparing MN138 by SN22:7 is not suitable. Because uddesa of SN22:7 and MN138 are different from each other. Moreover SN22:7 has only uddesa, but MN138 has both uddesa and vibhaṅga. So this study asserts that anupādā paritassanā corresponds to ajjhattaṃ saṇṭhitaṃ in this context of vibhaṅga. And this study also asserts that ajjhattaṃ saṇṭhitaṃ corresponds to rūpa-dhātu and arūpa-dhātu. In conclusion, this study asserts that problem is not the reading of anupādā paritassanā of MN138, but Bodi bhikkhu' aspects about upādā paritassanā and anupādā aparitassanā that is based on his definition of pañcakkhandhā and pañcupādānakkhandhā. Therefore this study concluded that the reading of anupādā paritassanā of MN138 is definitely correct.
