Since the outbreak of COVID-19, all sectors of society have discussed it in many ways. Based on the definition and characteristics of Buddhist precepts, this paper explains the modern meaning of precepts. The significance of the spirit of abstinence to modern epidemic prevention and control was discussed from two aspects of the whole society and the individual society. On this basis, this paper further compares the attitudes and behaviors of the public towards epidemic prevention measures between Buddhist countries and Christian countries, as well as their different epidemic prevention effects, and then analyzes the reasons from the perspective of religious belief and puts forward some thoughts. The above facts and theories prove that Buddhist precepts play an active role in modern epidemic prevention and control.
