Besides creating works of art, artists should further care about how to create a life. The Art of Awakening builds a life as if it was a work of art. “Awakening” can be understood from three perspectives, namely the Middle Way, the School of Consciousness-Only, and the Chan School. When we find a way out by the art of awakening, we can bring this awakening into our works, and truly settle down our minds. In this way, the art is not only a secular subject, but also a way to spread wisdom and enlighten the mind in much the same way that the ancients advocated that “Works can present the way.”
