摘要
본 고찰은 1945년부터 1980년까지의 시공간에서의 불교와 국가권력 간의 상호 관계성의 성격을 살피려는 글이다. 이 고찰을 통하여 한국 현대불교사에서 불교가 국가권력을 상대로 전개하였던 다양한 실상의 단서를 찾으려고 하였다. 이런 목적을 갖고 이 글에서는 해방공간, 정화공간, 산업화 공간에서 나타난 제반 내용을 정리하고, 그 본질을 추출하였다. 필자는 이상과 같은 취지를 갖고 본 고찰을 서술함에 있어서 다음과 같은 초점을 갖으려고 유의하였다. 첫째, 자료에 근거한 객관적인 서술을 하되, 균형적인 해석을 하고자 하였다. 둘째, 기독교에 대한 소외의식과 기독교로 인하여 성장, 발전이 지체되었다는 피해의식을 극복하여 서술하려고 유의했다. 셋째, 정교분리에 대한 이해를 하기 위하여 실제 현장에서 일어났던 사실을 세밀하게 정리하고자 하였다. 넷째, 가급적이면 당시의 관점, 실상, 인식을 추출하려고 하였다. 본 고찰이 불교와 국가권력 간에 전개되었던 제반 실상 및 성격을 이해함에 있어서 초석이 되길 기대한다. 그러나 이 분야에 대한 연구는 더욱 더 사실에 근거한 정리와 다양한 관점으로 다양한 학자들에 의해서 그 전모가 조명되어야 할 것이다.
This study aims at discovering the mutual relationship between Buddhism and power of the state in the concept of time and space from 1945 to 1980. The study sets a goal of finding various clues that shows Buddhism dealing with the state during the modern history of Korean Buddhism. With this target, the thesis arranges related matters that were presented in the area of liberation, purification and industrialization and extracts the essence of it. With the purpose, researcher targeted on focusing below points while carrying out the study. First of all, interpretation should be made in a balanced way with objective descriptions based on data. Secondly, it tried to overcome the sense of alienation and victim mentality caused by believing Christianity blocked the development and growth of Buddhism. In addition, it took a close look at the facts that happened in reality to better understand separation of politics and religion. Lastly, it tried its best to extract the viewpoint, reality and realization of the time. Hope the study becomes a foundation of understanding the related situations took place between Buddhism and power of the state. However, further analysis on the matter should be conducted from various researchers with deferent viewpoints and facts.
