The hall of reclining Buddha at Dafosi Monastery preserves exquisite murals which is a combination of the pilgrimage journey to west and Guanyin’s story of saving life from sufferings.Scholars don’t lay particular stress on Guanyin’s story of saving life from sufferings,but on the pilgrimage journey to west.It leads to a shallow research degree.This paper combines the two murals firstly,focuses on explaining Guanyin’s story of saving life from sufferings.What’s more,this paper finds that the belief of Guanyin under a background of a combination of painting and sculpture.Finally,compared with the other murals in Hexi area,the authors find this combination lasts from the Western Xia Regime to the Qing Dynasty,and it also becomes a common phenomenon.
