| 摘要 | The various sects of Japanese Buddhism not only asserted the superiority of their own sects, but also argued that they were one and the same Buddhism, even though they had different teachings. With this background I examine the Seizan 西山 branch of the Jōdo sect. In particular, Dōkyō Kenni 道教顕意 （1238-1304） argued that other-power is taught in all of Buddhism, and that in this respect, all of Buddhism is united. I show that his assertion is a criticism of other sects that do not understand the idea of other-power. |
