摘要
본 논문은 불교문화원형을 어떻게 발굴하고 이를 체계적으로 정리하여 문화콘텐츠 각 분야에 널리 활용될 수 있도록 할 것인가에 대한 방향을 설정하는데 그 목적이 있다. 먼저 한국불교문화의 특징을 통해 한국불교문화의 정체성에 대해 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 불교문화원형의 개념을 도출하고 불교문화원형에 대한 접근방법을 제안하고자 한다. 다음으로 이미 발굴되었거나 개발된 불교문화원형을 살펴보고 그 범위와 분류에 대해 다룰 것이다. 마지막으로 불교문화원형의 발굴 및 정리의 방향에 대해서 다루고자 한다. 본 논의에서 불교문화원형은 불교의 종교적 특징을 나타내며, 종교적 활동을 통해 역사적으로 축적된 고유한 유ㆍ무형의 문화적 산물이며, 역사, 사회, 문화적 전통으로 재창조된 문화요소라고 정의하였다. 이를 접근하는 방법에 있어서는 공공재의 성격을 갖는 문화자원적 의미, 활용을 전제로 한 문화상품의 소재, 문화콘텐츠로 제작을 염두에 둔 다각적인 접근 등이 필요하다. 본 논의를 통해 불교문화가 한국인의 정신문화를 보다 풍요롭게 하는데 기여하며, 나아가 우리 사회의 분열과 대립을 치유하고 상호존중과 다양성을 재발견하여 새로운 문화적 흐름을 창출하는데 이바지하고자 한다.
The aim of the study is to discover Cultural Archetypes of Buddhism and organize them systematically so that application plans can be designed for a diverse and broad utilization. First, identity of the culture of Korean Buddhism was examined based on the characteristics of the Korean Buddhism to achieve the goal of this study. Subsequently a concept of the Cultural Archetypes of Buddhism was defined and a plan to approach Buddhist Cultural Archetypes was suggested. Second, the previously discovered or developed Buddhist Cultural Archetypes were examined to review criteria and classification of the existing archetypes. Lastly, a desirable direction of the discovering and organization of the Buddhist Cultural Archetypes was suggested for a future research. Buddhist Cultural Archetypes in this study are defined as religious characteristics of Buddhism as well as unique cultural products in both tangible and intangible form accumulated through religious activities in history. Moreover Buddhist Cultural Archetypes are a recreated cultural element based on historical, social, and cultural traditions. The methods of diverse approaches to the Cultural Archetypes of Buddhism include approaching them as a cultural resource which has elements of the public heritage, as a subject matter for cultural products which can be utilized and practically applied, and as a cultural contents production. The research and discussion of this study could contribute to an enrichment of the spiritual culture of the Koreans through Buddhism, and to a formation of a new cultural era by healing conflicts and confrontations of the current society, and by reinventing mutual respect and cultural diversity.
