摘要
한국사회에서 재가불교운동은 종단 중심의 제도권 활동과 종단에서 벗어 난순수재가중심의활동으로구분할수있다. 종단을축으로하고있는제 도권에서의 재가불교운동은 대부분 신도회 중심으로 운영되고 있다. 반면 에 제도권 밖의 재가불교운동은 각종 법인이나 임의단체 등의 형식을 띠고 자율적으로 운영된다. 제도권에서의 재가불교운동은 출재가가 함께하는 협력적 구조를 띠거나 하위 조직으로서의 특성을 벗어날 수 없는 것이 현실이다. 반면에 제도권에 서 벗어난 재가불교 단체들은 매우 독립적이고 자율적으로 운영되고 있다. 그러나 지속성이 약하고 동참자의 수도 적은 편이다. 재가불교운동을 전개하는 단체들 중에서도 순수한 종교적 활동을 하는 단체와 사회운동을 병행하는 단체로 구분할 수 있다. 순수불교를 지향하는 단체들은 신행활동이나 수행의 확산에 주로 관심을 기울인다. 반면에 대사 회적인 운동을 병행하는 단체들은 신행방법이나 수행체계 등에 대한 관심 은비교적적은반면에복지, 포교, 인권, 환경등여러영역으로활동범위 를 확대하는 경향이 많다. 1990년대 까지만 해도 순수불교운동을 전개하는 신행단체 혹은 수행단체 의 활동이 비교적 활발하였다. 그러나 2000년대 이후부터는 이들 단체들이 위축되는 반면에 대사회적 운동을 병행하는 재가불교운동 단체들의 활동이 비교적 활발해졌다. 이러한 특징이 나타나게 된 것은 제도화된 종단의 안정 및발전과관련이있는것으로보인다. 즉종단과각사찰들의활동이활발 해지면 순수불교운동을 전개하는 재가단체들은 위축되는 반면에 제도권 단 체들이 관심을 덜 갖는 사회운동 분야의 단체들의 활동이 두드러지게 나타 난다. 재가불교운동의 발전 방안을 모색하기 위해서는 지도력을 갖춘 인재의 발굴, 신행활동과 사회운동이 조화, 종단이나 사찰과의 유대관계 강화, 전문 영역 확보 등이 필요하다.
Lay people activity in korean buddhism will be able to divide with the institutional activity which is belonged to a various buddhism order and the activity of the pure lay believer group which escapes from the orders. The lay believer activity which is belonged to an order is active in the lay people association. But on the other hand, the lay believer's activities which is not belonged to a order are operated autonomously. These groups are the corporation or voluntary associations. The buddhism movement of the lay believer is the cooperative structure which authorization does with the monk together from the group which has become system. And actually, there is not a possibility the monk escaping the quality of subordinate organization. On the other hand, the lay believer buddhism groups which escapes from system are operated very independent and autonomously. But these groups persistence are low, the size of the participants is small. Again, the lay believer buddhism groups will be able to divide in the pure religious group and the social movement group. The pure buddhism groups take an interest mainly in religious activity or meditation. On the other hand, the social movement groups take an interest in problem of that outside, namely social welfare, missionary work, the right of human being, environmental problem etc. Until 1990's, the pure Buddhism motion religious belief activity was many relatively in the meditation group center. But from 2000's after that, the activity of these groups was atrophied. The religious social movement became actively. The occurrence of like this feature is relation with afterwords. Namely, Religious order groups are institutionalized, stabilization and development etc. Because of these, the religious group and temples actively became and pure buddhism groups were atrophied. Because of like this to seek the social movement field which anyone does not have an interest and to be active. The developmental plan of lay believer movement must seek from afterwords, namely, the manpower cultivation which equips leadership, balanced maintenance of religious activity and social movement, relationship reinforcement between of movement groups and temples, security of professional activity territory, etc.
